KONICA MINOLTA TAKING A CLEAR SHOT AT BRANDING AWARENESS WITH STRIKING RESULTS

KUALA LUMPUR 22 – 24 October 2010 For the first time ever, the prestigious world-class golf tournament of the Ladies Professional Golf Association teed off in Malaysia to a spectacular start. Held in KLGCC (Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club), and hosted by Sime Darby, the star-studded event was also co-sponsored by Konica Minolta amongst others.

Being one of the official sponsors of The Inaugural Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2010, KMBS (Konica Minolta Business Solutions) took a tactical branding opportunity while leveraging on the center stage of 50 world's top professional lady golfers from 29 countries. Spearheaded by the participation of the top five players on the world ranking are Ai Miyazato, Cristie Kerr, Jiyai Shin, Yani Tseng and Suzann Petterson. This dazzling line-up generated a heavy traffic flow of high profile corporate spectators that set an ideal playing field for Konica Minolta to showcase and demonstrate their very own multifunctional printer superstars. Under the theme banner of Workaholic By Nature that straddled the backdrop of the booth were the innovative colour MFP bizhub C652 and the reliable black & White MFP bizhub 423.

Konica Minolta’s team MFP Solutions Specialists, pre & post-sales support personnel and trained technicians headed by National Sales & Marketing Manager Mr. CK Lim were on duty to provide visitors a clearer understanding of their products.

The Konica Minolta's MFP specialists stationed at the booth were quick to point out that the two multifunctional printers on display were the most suitable multifunctional solutions to be featured in this up-market environment. Some golf fans who took a break from the sunny weather out in the fairways, stopped by at Konica Minolta's booth to witness the prowess of bizhub C652. Most were impressed with the high image quality colour result consistently churning out from the futuristic looking machine. Those who stayed long enough for Konica Minolta's MFP specialists to explain further were even more inspired by the MFP's communication, collaboration and management capabilities. Along side bizhub C652 was the black & white wonder, bizhub 423. This robust yet environmental friendly MFP shared the spotlight of the 3-day event with its wide black & white gradual printing coverage and high-speed network colour scanning. Impressing onlookers was also its unique large 8.5 inch colour LCD touch screen display that controls document handling with exceptional speed and ease.

While the MFPs were the stars of Konica Minolta, brand awareness was really the reason why Konica Minolta took part in this high profile event. As Marketing Manager Mr. Adrian Hah puts it, 'Although Konica Minolta is one of the top players in the MFP local market today, our objective in this event is part of the aim to continue to build a top-of-mind recall for our brand when it comes to customer's decision in choosing multifunctional printers'. Konica Minolta's brand awareness was undeniably noticeable during the3-day LPGA event. Dedicated Konica Minolta's giant A-boards were placed off course and even on-course as a random backdrop for the international star players. Spectators were also spotted holding Konica Minolta's brand in a form of a hand-held fan. Together with Konica Minolta's collectible star-player autograph cards, these door gifts were readily handed out at the entrance by KMBS personnels. By the end of the 3-day Inaugural Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2010 tournament, the ardent fans saw South Korea 's favourite Jimin Kang took home the winning trophy while Konica Minolta accomplished what they set out to do. Taking a clear shot at tactical branding awareness out in the playing field with striking results.
