Konica Minolta @ Sime Darby LPGA 2014
Golf is a ball game that related to precision swing and ball flight. Konica Minolta supports the Sime Darby LPGA tournament as the precision required for playing golf mirrors Konica Minolta’s business philosophy of prestige, high precision, and commitment to being a champion in delivering innovative business solutions to our customers that add value.
As the Official Document Solutions Partner for Sime Darby LPGA, Konica Minolta provided comprehensive on-site services to support with their print needs across whole tournament. This support has also been extended to the media centre.
“This is the 5th year Konica Minolta sponsored for Sime Darby LPGA. We having been a quiet sponsor at the beginning, it was only in the last two years we have really upgraded our investment in the game,” said Jason Leong, Senior Marketing Manager, Konica Minolta Business Solutions Sdn Bhd.
“This is one of our corporate branding exercises that help us to elevate Konica Minolta brand to a greater height especially when we now moving towards providing ‘Service as Business’ direction, which is shifting its business focus towards providing total document solutions and Optimised Print Services (OPS), allowing it to cater to the rapid development of digital communications in a business environment with fast changing Information Technology and business needs. We believe this prestigious golf tournament is a great platform for us to reach our target market especially from mid to high SMEs or enterprises,” he added.
“We are also using the event as a reward activity. We invited some of our valued customers to come and experience the event at our hospitality suite which provide fantastic view of hole 18 and abundant F&B was served to make their tournament viewing an unforgettable moment. Besides, we also rewarded our customers with loads fo seasonal passes in which our customers have full access to the tournament.”

Aside from the main objective of our initiative involvement in this sponsorship, Konica Minolta also takes this opportunity contributing to society by donate its resources from this event to corporate society responsible (CSR). “Last year we dedicated our booth as a venue to raise funds and awareness for a vocational training institute. Guests at the tournaments were encouraged to make donations towards a fund for the underprivileged youths that have dropped out of mainstream education,” Jason stated.
“This year, we are contributing to Carif (Cancer Research Initiatives Foundation) by having funds raising during 4 tournament days. With our ‘Photo Print for Charity’, visitors can snap photos with the props and preset background templates and print it on the spot with a minimum donation of RM10. Moreover, we also provided on-site visitors with mobile direct printing user experience. Visitors can connect smart devices with multi-functional Konica Minolta bizhub output systems and print their photos in gallery instantly and wirelessly. Other than that, there was ‘Popcorn for Charity’ with a minimum of RM5 donation.”
Beyond this, Konica Minolta was the proud presenter of Chip4Charity activity which generated great traction as golfers or wannabe golfers had to chip a ball from a platform some 70 yards to a bull’s-eye (a small circle around a flag) on a platform floating on a lake. For who succeeded stood a chance to win ipad mini on each of the tournament’s days.
For RM10, participants were given five balls to hit. The launch was attended by New Zealand’s Lydia Ko, Korea’s Hee Young Park, Sandra Gal from Germany and Malaysia’s Kelly Tan, where the girls playfully showed their competitive sides.
